Reliable remediation of concrete structures including residential and precast concrete slabs to heritage masonry and bridges requires precise diagnosis and characterisation of defects — in particular the depth and lateral extent of both visible external and concealed issues such as voids, honeycombing, delamination, cracks and inconsistencies within the matrix.
Most businesses' will try to solve every problem with ground penetrating radar (GPR) but our team at Spaulding Geophysics employ the full toolkit of multi-dimensional 2D/3D high-resolution imaging techniques across Tasmania
We utilise ultrasonic tomography and pulse velocity, high and low-frequency GPR, Wenner 4-Point method, Schmidt Hammer, Windsor probe and Half-cell potential. We are not limited by method or experience with the ability to precisely identify, evaluate and measure the depth and lateral dimensions of each defect.
Testing conducted in alignment with AS/NZS 2425:2015, ASTM D6432, ASTM D6431–99(2010), and ASTM D6087–08(2015).
Ground Penetrating Radar
High-frequency radar for mapping rebar, voids, tendon ducts, slab thickness and delamination.
Ultrasonic Tomography
Detailed 2D/3D velocity imaging for voids, honeycombing, cracks and delamination.
Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity
Assesses concrete quality, uniformity and internal defects through pulse velocity.
In-Situ Compressive Strength
Schmidt Hammer, Windsor Probe & UPV for accurate non-destructive strength estimation.
Concrete Resistivity
Assesses permeability, moisture and corrosion risk of reinforcement.
Half-Cell Potential
Determines active corrosion probability of embedded reinforcement.
